A beautiful example of American gunsmith craftsmanship. The top of the barrel is marked Parker Brothers, Makers, Meriden, Conn. Vulcan Steel. Marked with patents of 1887 and 1889. Silver shield in bottom of buttstock is unmarked.

A feeler gauge of at most 2.5 thou between the barrel and breech face can be inserted. No case hardening is visible from exposed metal parts. There is a small dent on either side of the barrel about half way up, not visible from the inside. Blueing is worn on the right side barrel near the breech from being carried by hand. Screws are in good condition aside from two on the bottom that have been marred from an incorrect driver. The wood is free from cracks. The lever to open the breech is slightly off center.
